Simple Vegan Alternatives to Common Toppings

Based upon this recipe.

  • 9g Hefe Paket
  • 200mL lauwarmes Wasser
  • 2tl Senf
  • 1tl Salz
  • 4EL Alsan
  • 4EL Mehl
  • 2EL Polenta
  1. Hefe im Wasser auflösen (extra Schüssel)
  2. Mit scharfem Senf und Salz einrühren
  3. Alsan im Topf erhitzen bis aufgelöst
  4. Mehl dazurühren, Hefegemisch dazu, dann Polenta (gut verrühren)
  5. Das Ganze noch einmal kurz erhitzen

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • Several tablespoons finely chopped parsley (or try other herbs like thyme, oregano, etc.)
  • Garlic (to taste)
  • Mustard (either powder or mixed with the oil — to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  1. Heat the oil over medium flame in a small sauté pan.
  2. Add the bread crumbs, salt and pepper, and stir, cooking until crumbs have absorbed the oil.
  3. Add the parsley and cook another few minutes, until crumbs turn a golden brown.
  4. Remove from pan and serve as a topping to pasta dishes, salads, etc.
